Desalination Plant: Intake and Outfall Access in Chloride-Immune FRP
| Location | Red Sea coast, Saudi Arabia |
| Completed | 2024-09 |
| Quantity | 680 m² + covers |
| Products | Molded grating 38–50 mm, vinyl ester · Trench covers · FRP cage ladder |
The challenge
Intake screening and outfall structures sit in continuous salt splash with occasional immersion. The original design used super-duplex walkways; the EPC sought a cost reduction without accepting a corrosion liability, and needed documentation for a salt-water service warranty file.
The solution
JINGLUE supplied 680 m² of vinyl ester molded grating (38 mm galleries, 50 mm at the screen maintenance decks), sealed-edge trench covers across the pump gallery, and FRP cage ladders. Material certificates and resin test data were packaged for the project warranty dossier.
Outcomes
- Package cost well below the duplex alternative while meeting the same service life intent
- Zero bonding or earthing requirements in the pump gallery
- Documentation accepted by the EPC's QA file on first submission
- Walkways ready before intake commissioning — no late-stage delays
