Offshore Platform: Phenolic FRP Escape Routes and Decking
| Location | Abu Dhabi, UAE (offshore) |
| Completed | 2025-02 |
| Quantity | 420 m² escape walkways |
| Products | Phenolic molded grating 38 mm · Phenolic handrail · Phenolic stair treads |
The challenge
Escape route and laydown walkways on an early-2000s platform were hot-dip galvanized steel in a salt-splash zone. Annual inspection kept finding coating breakdown and pack rust, and every replacement with steel carried the same future. The operator's fire case required low flame spread and low smoke toxicity on escape routes.
The solution
JINGLUE supplied phenolic-resin molded grating with integrated grit surface, phenolic handrail and treads, with the fire-test dossier (ASTM E84 Class 1 data and low smoke index documentation) packaged for the operator's certification file. Panels were delivered in numbered modules matching the platform deck plan.
Outcomes
- Fire and smoke documentation accepted into the platform safety case without modification
- Modules installed during a planned shutdown by the platform's own crew
- Splash-zone corrosion eliminated from the inspection finding list
- Weight saving vs steel contributed to a deck-load review with margin to spare
